Arrogance - Thy Name is Obama
During a commercial at another station, turned to MSNBC to get the democratic talking points. I was surprised to see a segment by the New York Times campaign edition. I was able to get many democratic talking points anyhow. Apparently, the democratic New York Times and the democratic MSNBC have joined forces. Should I be surprised? Of course not. NewsWeek has been a democratic carrier of news for some time - hired the originator of DailyKos. MSNBC, NewsWeek, and the New York Times have been losing readers and viewers dramatically for some time. Don’t you think the Obama campaign should pay them as well as all the campaign spots he puts out in other areas of media?
I was glad to see that the Gray Lady’s quarterly earnings were down 82%. I will be glad when the Gray Lady shows her true colors and goes dark. The only people who read the New York Times and watch MSNBC are rabid Democrats, and not even the most rabid. The real rabid Democrats read DailyKos, Moveon.org, Huffington Post, and other slimy outlets.
Oil and gas efforts by the oil companies have been stopped dead by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and the majority of people harmed by the high prices for gas at the pump are those in flyover country, and these are people who are mostly ignored by all the politicians. I would hope that all those in flyover country would call their representative and Senator (plus Nancy and Ole Harry) and let them know what you feel about this. Someone has to take on the Democrats and environmentalists, in their unpatriotic fervor,to keep this country from becoming completely independent on energy, and that does not set well with the U.N. lovers and those who want an international flavor to our country, even if it’s a detriment to our country.
The Republicans in Congress and any Democrats who want to lower prices of gas, get behind the small town of Elk Point, South Dakota with their desires to get their new refinery on line that will process 400,000 barrels of oil daily from our next door neighbor Canada with their tar sands. I would think this would be good for NAFTA. Efforts should be made by the Republicans to take away the obstacles that the Democrats and environmentalists will place in their way, as usual. Also, they should try to encourage other towns to follow Elk Point’s lead.

Cynicism is Required, Not Gullibility!
Cynicism is also required in the matter of global warming that our government is pushing, even though the last ten years have been cooler than usual. How can cynicism not rule when all three of the Presidential candidates are citing global warming when it doesn’t exist? What gives? John McCain, for all he says he is his own man, wants to be liked and follows the finger in the wind approach to his actions. Case in point, drilling in ANWR and off the continental shelf he kowtows to environmentalists to the detriment of the country.I wish we could send all the environmentalists, including Al Gore and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to Russia and China to put a crimp in their economy as they have in ours. How can you be anything but a cynic when you see the Democrats investigation or hearing committees on everything from baseball and oil companies to trying to take over Commander in Chief duties as their own, and take over the war from the Generals, even though the Chairman Carl Levin didn’t know the difference between an Admiral and a General. For the American citizens to not be cynical of their legislative body of government would require the willing suspension of disbelief.
May God continue to bless the USA!

I wish the news media, with their many ways to collect information, would concentrate on each and every one of these questioners’ backgrounds and bring out ALL the DIRT. I know this will never happen, but one can always hope. If this were done, there wouldn’t be so many investigations. Some legislation would be attempted, and maybe some would be accomplished. The Congress could very well turn these investigations over to the Justice Department where they could screw it up as they have in the case of the two border agents and in the case of that idiot CIA agent, Valerie Plame. I think a lot of these Congress committee members never got to make the team when they were young and have been bitter ever since.
What all this comes back to is he said versus he said. Henry Waxman just shows again his weasel like nature. Poor guy - could never play sports and resented those who did. The committee says “It’s for the children” - GOOD GOD!
I believe there could be other things this committee could be working on: immigration problems, enforcing laws on the books concerning immigration (as Arizona has done, and they see their immigration problem going away with a simple enforcement of the law). Of course the enforcement of this law was questioned and taken to the Supreme Court by some liberal, but it was upheld. If a state can enforce a federal law and accomplish something on immigration, why can’t Congress do the same with enforcing the federal law to make it work as it was designed to? The, of course, they could be working on our energy problem, like exploring the possibility of drilling in ANWR, subsidizing projects to remove oil from shale in the Western states, possibility of drilling off the Continental shelf, and other matters that would ease our balace of payments problem and help take a bite out of our deficits. Then, of course, they could be looking into each other’s earmarks and seeing which are extremely political and crooked, paying off contributors to their campaigns, etc. Then, of course, they could look at how the banking committee allowed this subprime mortgage mess, similar to the dot com implosion that was allowed by the SEC. In other words, use their time for GOVERNING and not posing and posturing for tv cameras.

I am concerned about the poor Democratic party, with all their hundreds and hundreds of investigations, they haven’t even found smoke. Their two main whipping boys are going. That only leaves them with Cheney to attack. Senators Charles Schumer and Patrick Leahy, and Congressmen John Conyers, John Dingell, and Henry Waxman, the attack dogs in Congress, are so like Senator Joe McCarthy that he must be looking up on them with approval as he stokes the furnace.
The Democrats came in with promises to change the direction - they did. Instead of any legislation, they concentrated on investigations with bitterness and rancor about their short term of being out of power. I guess they think all the Democrats are as interested in punishing Republicans as they are. This may possibly be wrong. I am sure there are Democrats who would rather get on with governing than flailing the bushes hoping to catch a rabbit - at least I hope so.
Then of course there are also the independants as a viable source of power in elections. What do they think? In and aside from this, I saw where someone from Vermont wants Bush to visit there. Why should he in this state of turncoats like Jeffords, crazies like Sanders and Leahy, and judges who don’t punish child molesters and pedophiles. At one time Vermont was a rock-ribbed bastion of civility and morality.
I know we must all be glad that France has a new President instead of Jacque Chirac, who we know was a friend of Saddam with money interests in Iraq. The new President, Sarkozy, just put out a statement saying that Iran may have to be bombed and that further sanctions should be put on them. The only thing wrong with this is that France is one of the biggest trading countries with Iran. I would wish that he would walk the walk, not just talk the talk. In any event, there is a hopeful sign coming from a country that most Americans had given up on, and they have taken more blood from America’s best than any other country, ever! The only time we lost more Americans was our own Civil War. Everytime I see those fields of white crosses in France, I wonder how they could possibly, deliberately try to undercut our interests in the United Nations and put obstacles in our path in trying to help people achieve freedom. After all, we ensured theirs twice!

For axis of evil, I would like to nominate Mike Nifong, Patrick Fitzgerald, and Johnny Sutton. To me they are the embodiment of government gone mad. Instances of government failures is the power given to environmentalists and ensuring that we can’t attain energy independence by drilling in ANWR, the continental shelf, and building new refineries and nuclear power plants. Years down the road, if an energy crisis occurs, the Democrats will blame the Republicans, and the role of the environmentalists will be forgotten. It’s the same with the massive wild fires this year - the environmentalists haven’t received any blame.
I may have my facts wrong, but I understand that Johnny Sutton appeared before the Senate, giving testimony without having to be under oath. That he also gave immunity to a drug dealer who tried to bring 749 pounds of drugs into the country, just to have him give honest testimony in Sutton’s case against the two border agents, is utter nonsense.
The macho ole Harry is having a slumber party tonight. Hopefully we will get to see Robert Byrd entertaining everyone as he has since the Civil Rights Bill of 1964. Too bad Everett Dirksen wasn’t still here and we could hear a voice worthy of a Senator, and not the inane whining that you hear from the Democrats. I have been impressed by the Democrats pursuit of passing laws to protect and enable the American public to have a better life. Let’s see now - the House has had a very impressive period. They have had investigations, investigations, and investigations. The Democratic Senate has had a similar impressive record. They have had investigations, investigations, and investigations. On top of that, they have tried to have bipartisan action, even going so far as to have a slumber party to encourage friendship.
I am sure they will spend the night extolling the economic progress under the Bush administration and how the tax cuts passed under Bush were to correct the recession he inherited from Clinton. They will probably talk about the first two miserable years of the Clinton administration and how the country thrived with the first Republican Congress in years and years - oh yeah… and how he went after Osama Bin Laden so many times - also, his integrity and moral values that have contributed so to the American social fabric.
