Baseball Investigations - Preening and Self-Gratification!

TV cameras - Greatest gift to Congress - GOD forbid!

Just had the unfortunate experience of watching another investigating committee of Congress in action. I had turned on a news channel to get some news and the news they had was another investigating committee of Congress at work, spreading their ego around for all the world to see, investigating steroid use in baseball. Wouldn’t it be great if they used all this energy and pontificating on legislation? Again I say tv cameras in the Congress and Senate are one of the most debilitating actions that could be taken to insure that members would use it for purposes of posturing and self-gratification. I don’t know if they realize it or not, but if you just watch their mouths as they talk and don’t take in the rest of them, they look so foolish and ugly. These people doing the questioning have so much in their own backgrounds that are questionable they should feel foolish questioning others.

I wish the news media, with their many ways to collect information, would concentrate on each and every one of these questioners’ backgrounds and bring out ALL the DIRT. I know this will never happen, but one can always hope. If this were done, there wouldn’t be so many investigations. Some legislation would be attempted, and maybe some would be accomplished. The Congress could very well turn these investigations over to the Justice Department where they could screw it up as they have in the case of the two border agents and in the case of that idiot CIA agent, Valerie Plame. I think a lot of these Congress committee members never got to make the team when they were young and have been bitter ever since.

What all this comes back to is he said versus he said. Henry Waxman just shows again his weasel like nature. Poor guy - could never play sports and resented those who did. The committee says “It’s for the children” - GOOD GOD!

Arizona got it right - Why can’t Congres?

I believe there could be other things this committee could be working on: immigration problems, enforcing laws on the books concerning immigration (as Arizona has done, and they see their immigration problem going away with a simple enforcement of the law). Of course the enforcement of this law was questioned and taken to the Supreme Court by some liberal, but it was upheld. If a state can enforce a federal law and accomplish something on immigration, why can’t Congress do the same with enforcing the federal law to make it work as it was designed to? The, of course, they could be working on our energy problem, like exploring the possibility of drilling in ANWR, subsidizing projects to remove oil from shale in the Western states, possibility of drilling off the Continental shelf, and other matters that would ease our balace of payments problem and help take a bite out of our deficits. Then, of course, they could be looking into each other’s earmarks and seeing which are extremely political and crooked, paying off contributors to their campaigns, etc. Then, of course, they could look at how the banking committee allowed this subprime mortgage mess, similar to the dot com implosion that was allowed by the SEC. In other words, use their time for GOVERNING and not posing and posturing for tv cameras.

May God continue to bless the USA!
