Cynicism is Required, Not Gullibility!

John McCain says that Americans are too cynical, but I say not enough of them. More informed people tend to be more cynical, thus the Congressional actions lead to cynicism by the American people. Reasons for this cynicism are broad and varied. Example: Congressional hearings of the oil companies. The Congressmen asked what the oil companies could do for the country, when they should be asking themselves what they could do for the country. For instance, stop using food products for processing of ethanol and raising the price of food to levels that affect the ability of average American families to feed their families full, nutritional meals.Congress could allow leasing by the oil companies of areas off the continental shelf and ANWR for oil companies to drill for our nation’s oil needs. They could offer a subsidy to find cheaper methods to remove oil from the oil shale in the western states. Should these things happen, gas prices would go down, food prices would slowly stabilize, our economy would improve and so would our balance of payments abroad, and our deficit would decrease.Another incident that encourages cynicism is the elitists of Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and the Kennedys of Cape Cod not allowing wind farms because it would spoil their view and be in the way of their yachts. They sure are not asking what they can do for their country.

Cynicism is also required in the matter of global warming that our government is pushing, even though the last ten years have been cooler than usual. How can cynicism not rule when all three of the Presidential candidates are citing global warming when it doesn’t exist? What gives? John McCain, for all he says he is his own man, wants to be liked and follows the finger in the wind approach to his actions. Case in point, drilling in ANWR and off the continental shelf he kowtows to environmentalists to the detriment of the country.I wish we could send all the environmentalists, including Al Gore and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to Russia and China to put a crimp in their economy as they have in ours. How can you be anything but a cynic when you see the Democrats investigation or hearing committees on everything from baseball and oil companies to trying to take over Commander in Chief duties as their own, and take over the war from the Generals, even though the Chairman Carl Levin didn’t know the difference between an Admiral and a General. For the American citizens to not be cynical of their legislative body of government would require the willing suspension of disbelief.

May God continue to bless the USA!
