Returning to the subject of the illegal immigrants and our government’s efforts to contain it - they really don’t - they pretend to, with the courts helping them to mock the laws already on the books. Towns and cities are making zones of sanctuary and mocking their own government’s efforts of illegal control as if there were any. Now they say this law doesn’t work. Let’s make another one. By not enforcing these laws for the last 20 years, they have allowed this to happen. Without an effort nothing will happen, and to me this just shows the same hypocrisy that you always see in our government.

When the courts allow illegal immigrants to not only scoff at the U.S. government laws, but to overturn the will of the people in cities and towns such as Farmers Branch, Texas and other towns and cities across the USA, no law will be of any value. I warrant a lot of the jobs held by illegal immigrants are receiving a good hourly wage that some of the American poor would be glad to have, but of course then the employers would have to do all that paperwork, such as Social Security, FICA, Federal taxes, Workers Comp, and others. Do our poor employers have to suffer with all those restrictions? If they do, they won’t have money left over to give to the politicians. There are now even seminars to tell employers how to pretend they made an effort to hire legal Americans for the jobs, and how to circumvent existing laws - and the government allows them to do that.

As far as the courts and justice system, they are a complete farce. It’s who you know, how many high-priced lawyers you can afford, the judge you get, political affiliation, and so forth. You don’t think so? How about Marion Berry skating on charges much more serious than Paris Hilton. She goes to jail, he walks! Then of course we have these: Marion Berry, William Jefferson, Alcee Hastings, OJ Simpson, and a better way to judge this is Pockets Berger vs. Scooter Libby, Mike Nifong and Patrick Fitzgerald. Another thing… the Senate wasting its time to try to get a vote of no confidence in Attorney General Gonzales. As far as I know, he hasn’t been responsible for the deaths of 88 people and a kidnapping of a child as Janet Reno was. I guess they had full confidence in her. Also we have, now serving in the Democratic Congress, William Jefferson and Jack Murtha. How about them ethics?

I am fascinated about how polls are conducted. Some are by honest companies trying to obtain true facts, and some are the products of underhanded politicians trying to bend the polls to meet their nefarious ends, framing the question to get the results they want - questions in the manner of “Do you still beat your wife?”. See what I mean. One of my fears for this country is the effort by the Democrats to put political correctness on free speech. They want free speech as long as it pleases them, but also want to deprive others of this right. The Democrats demand group-think, and that group-think must coincide with their beliefs. If not, then it must be controlled. When I was young, it was not unusual to see people speaking on soap boxes or something similar in parks and recreation areas, such as Boston Common and similar areas. I don’t know if that still goes on, but I think the internet is now that forum.

Free speech

As far as talk radio, the Democrats with great fanfare came out with Air America to counter Conservative talk shows. It failed MISERABLY. Now they want to eliminate Conservative talk radio with the fairness in broadcasting law reinstated. If they do, then wouldn’t Chris Matthews be unable to have Democratic Presidential candidates on his program pushing for them? He would have to have every other Presidential candidate on. The same would apply to ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, and NPR. Let’s not open that can of worms, and I mean WORMS.

Now we are in the midst of the longest Presidential campaign EVER, and people are getting a little bored and looking for exciting things, such as John Edwards combing his hair or sneezing. By now the Democrats have decided which one of the men running for President on the Republican ticket they like. It used to be John McCain, now it’s Ron Paul. YouTube seems to be right on top of the political high jinx.
