The arrogant Congress.

Trent Lott comes out saying talk radio has to be stopped. They are running the country. I wonder if he remembers who defended him on the statement he made about Strom Thurmand. There were even some talk show hosts that pointed out others of the opposite party who had made different, but similar type statements, such as Robert Byrd, Jesse Jackson, and others. Then we have David Obey, who I believe in his statement as much as said, “the unwashed masses should butt out and let the great minds of Congress do their jobs.” I think the majority of the unwashed masses could do their jobs better. I believe they would be more interested in the will of the people… no immigration bill, enforce the rules that apply and stop illegal border crossings by any means available. It could be done.

Also, I believe the will of the people would dictate drilling in ANWR and off the continental shelf. Also encourage an oil company to build another oil refinery. These would be done and made available should we have any kind of emergencey caused by the oil cartel. I realize it would take time, but at least we would be on the right course of action. There wouldn’t be anyone saying “if only”. I could be wrong, but I believe this and the immigration bill being stopped would be the will of the people. I have another idea that I think would be the will of the peopl, and that is to legislate the stopping of all earmarks or pork by EVERYONE in Congress.
I am sure that the 3,000 earmarks David Obey is so concerned about could be cancelled and be of no consequence except to those the earmarks are for, such as local politicans and crooks. I can hardly wait to see what Congress person or Senator will introduce legislation to do away with earmarks or pork, whatever they call it. I don’t know what name they will come up with, but something to hide what it really is, graft by Congress. Of course, that would be the will of the people. I am sure whoever introduces this legislation, his fellow members will rush to slap him on the back and vote in unison for the bill. I live in a dream world.
Can you imagine the illegals saying they want this bill and to be treated in an honest and fair manner? Who is being honest? The only thing this Congress has accomplished in this session is hearings. I sometimes watch these GREAT minds of Congress work and hear them pontificate on one thing or another, and I wonder if this hot air was directed properly, if it could help our energy problem. Reminds me of the windmills on Cape Cod Bay.
I believe the penalty to Mike Nifong should be also shared by Fitzgerald, that famous prosecutor. Seems to me he withheld evidence in the same way, and this could be classified as prosecutional misconduct. Noted with satisfaction, a BBC investigation found bias - can we have NPR and PBS do the same thing?
