Alas poor history, I knew ye well.
“All we are saying is give us the truth” -
History, American History, was something I used to love to learn about, taught by a history professor who also loved American History. He is gone now and will never know, as I do now, that in this age of communication and it’s influence the media wields, the twists they use on current happenings influence not only the future, and history as it will be written, but also history as it has been written for the past fifty years or more. Samples of what I am talking about follow:
A movie is made about American Heroes on Okinawa. Shortly afterwards, a warm and fuzzy film about the Japanese military is written. The same Japanese that did the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, fathers of the Bataan Death March, making slaves of women from countries they ravaged to use as sex slaves for their military’s stress relief, without doubt, is the most cruel army of all time.
The New York Times put out classified information, have several of their reporters put out detrimental statements about the war and the administration, apparently, with their paper’s blessing. One reporter on a talk show made a stated personal opinion that the military surge should be tried and he gets chastised by his paper.
Many of the politicians practically insisted Bush take action on Iraq. Now these same politicians are saying Bush took action on his own and used lies to go into Iraq. The 9/11 commission, supposedly non-partisan, one of it’s members helped to make the law that kept important information from being shared, which made it easier for the nineteen 9/11 hijackers to front their attacks.
Pockets Berger, former National Security Advisor to President Clinton, commits
espionage by stealing classified documents - doesn’t even get jail time. One of the 9/11 commissioners, Lee Hamilton, takes a job with Pocket Berger’s firm. The lawyer who assured the 9/11 commission that Berger return everything has now got a hefty promotion with the Justice Department. And they thought the Warren Commission was screwed up!!!!
The Attorney General of the United States pursues justice and fairness with less zeal than North Carolina with Mike Nifong. Vermont’s child molester judges, San Francisco with it’s hate mobs. Two border agents stop a drug smuggler from Mexico, and they get put in jail for years. Now there is a border agent who shot an illegal immigrant from Mexico in self-defense - an ex-Marine who will probably be given the same treatment. Too bad Scooter Libby couldn’t be given the same treatment as Hillary, and have the Justice Department allow him to say “I don’t remember”, “I don’t recall”, or give him the same treatment as Bill… allowed to change the meaning of words in the dictionary and perjure himself before the whole country - and he is still the media’s darling!
Now we come to how Scooter Libby is being handled by the Justice Department. The prosecutor knew months ago who told the identity of Joe Wilson’s wife. He isn’t being charged with anything, but Scooter Libby is being prosecuted. Shades of Mike Nifong!!!
President Bush is asked by a petition and Congressmen to pardon the two border agents, and he didn’t. He said certain steps had to be taken. I think that all pardons by any and all Presidents should be listed as they happen with the crimes they are being pardoned for, and their names and addresses listed. Make it a part of history known. History will never be able to be trusted again.
With a media willing to satisfy one party’s agenda by lies and twisting the truth, and willing to do the same thing to destroy the other party and change history, how can we ever believe history again? What and who’s legacy is real?
